The safe way to lose weight is to avoid salt. It is harmful to restrict calories/food/fat. - Inadequate nutrition causes serious health problems.

When you eat less food than your body needs, it does not make you slimmer and fitter; it makes you ill. - Your body becomes short of vital minerals and vitamins. Your bones will weaken and be much more likely to fracture if you have a fall. Your immune system will suffer and you will be less able to ward off infections like colds and 'flu and many others. Your skin will get thinner so you will feel pain more. Your blood vessels will become more fragile so you will bleed more easily and be more likely to get headaches. You will lose hair. Your fingernails and toenails will weaken and be more likely to tear. Your feet will swell and ache. Your risk of arthritis, stroke, diabetes, cancer, heart disease and heart attack and many other health problems will rise.

Obesity is caused by salt sensitivity leading to fluid retention and thus to excess weight. There are various causes of salt sensitivity, the most dangerous of which is the reckless prescribing of certain groups of drugs by doctors who have not familiarised themselves with the side-effects of some of the powerful drugs they prescribe - drugs like steroids, ant-depressants and anti-psychotics and certain pain-killers and other drugs.

Giving up dieting, reducing salt intake and eating plenty of good food including plenty of fruit and (unsalted) vegetables and dairy calcium in milk and/or low fat yoghurt (not cheese, because it's salty) will ensure safe loss of excess weight.
